The best way to import in the USA is by selling the Cappuccino as a kit. We simply restore a whole Cappuccino and instead of putting it all back together, we send the most important parts separately. So, on a palette you will get the engine, (which ever power you wish)+ the gearbox; the suspension mostly complete + the wheels; and finally the shell with the interior and the electric fully done.
A cheaper version would be the same but not restored.
Once the Cappuccino, in pieces, has past US customs, the difficulty of registering depends on the state. The states (thanks to the US constitutionally outlined federal system) control the REGISTRATION. It varies widely. In Indiana, for example, it’s very easy, the rules are so lax. In Oregon you can register a Kei car as farm equipment and drive it at will. In California cars with engines displacing less than 50 cubic inches (821cc) are exempt from emissions testing.
